Engaging your Kids in Writing Activities

Remember your kid's adorable early writings? There is an instance that all your kid's writing is kept in a drawer that will remind you of their cute works. But when the years go by as your kid or kids are in schools, you are at a loss. Your kid's attention into writing keeps on diminishing.

Writing allows the expression of feelings and the realization of creativity and imagination. Kid writings should never be bordered, they should be allowed to explore and write down what goes on in their heads.

Most of the time, kids' attention are glued into toys, foods, watching TV, and playing with other kids. Sometimes, school works are completely forgotten as you will keep on reminding them even when they're about to go to sleep. With full exhaustion from playing, surely, assignments are left behind.

With so many distractions in your kid's everyday life, as a parent, keep in mind that there's always time for school works and playing. Remember that you should balance all your kid's energy so that it is used properly. However, there will be a time when your kid doesn't show the full potential in school specifically their writing skill. Expect that in such an early age, you will notice that not all kids are into writing. So, what will you do in order to help your child revert to liking writing?

Since at an early age, you never forget to teach your kid how to write properly. With today's advanced educational technology, reading and writing are combined for kid's early learning. The physical aspect of writing words and letters can enhance ability in reading. Balancing the relationship between writing and reading continues after your early efforts, you can change your kid's writing skills dramatically by way of encouraging his/her writing patterns in childhood. You can also take on the teachings from children educators by allowing your kids to write in phonetic manner rather than worrying from proper spelling in school.

Focusing on Good Writing for Kids

For the kids to have a good foundation in writing, they should be familiar about the language environment. There are many ways that can build their vocabulary skills like from word games and tests as it can increase their knowledge about all kinds of words and phrases. These kinds of activities really enhance your kids' ability as it can help them to write words or phrases in depth. Try to focus on your kid's work after school for punctuation and spelling errors as you're checking your kid's everyday development. For example, if your kid arrives from school with a report that must be written in home, take time as your kid write the first draft and check it later. Then, you can mark all the necessary part for revision. In this kind of procedure, you and your kid can take a full interaction about the proper writing process.

The tools in writing are also necessary for the kids' as to make writing become more interesting. You can provide them attractive pencils and pens as it can add fun to kids. Different kinds of paper either lined or unlined must also be available for your kids' writing practices and projects.

Always remember not to lose patience in teaching writing activities to your kid. Here's how to get started in a writing activity:

- Look for a silent, comfortable, and cool place.
- Make sure that your kid fully understands every direction before starting.
- Show your kid how to work on a separate sheet of paper while you are giving directions.
- Limit every session to about two lessons.
