The Authors Behind Vintage Children's Books

from: ParentingKidsToday.com

Are your children fond of reading books?

If they are, then probably they have read several children's books available nowadays. They are amazed of what Harry Potter can do with his magic wand and broomstick, or they are familiar of how Humpy Dumpy fell off of the wall. These are just few of several children's books that your kids might get interested reading.

Just like your children, you were once a kid, also looking for some form of entertainment on your free time. Still remember Dr. Seuss and his witty rhymes? Or Hans Christian Andersen and his fairy tales? Probably you enjoy reading them before, and you want to give your children a glimpse of what is to be a child 20 to 30 years ago. If that will be so, then you may opt to provide them vintage children's books.

Not only are they vintage, but they are more of a classic because of the uniqueness of the ideas presented. Such vintage children's books do not just bring adventure to whoever reads it, but also gives a moral lesson at the end of every story. Thus instilling on the minds of the children the values that they need to practice on their everyday lives.

Let us take a glimpse on the authors behind the success of these vintage children's books and why they have dedicated their time and devotion to writing books intended for the young members of the population.

Dr. Seuss

Still remember Dr. Seuss? Probably your children are not familiar with him, but for sure you know him. Children during your time are quite familiar with his books and the impact to the children is an enduring one. As a matter of fact, Dr. Seuss' birthday, whose real name is Theodor Geisel, is celebrated every 12th day of March across the United States with birthday cakes and of course, reading the stories in his books.

Geisel was inclined to writing for magazines and war documentaries, but he also found out that he has that passion in writing children's stories as well. His first children's book which is entitled "And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street" was published in the year 1937. From then on, he has produced several children's books, which includes The Cat in a Hat, Green Eggs in Ham, and The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins. The vintage children's books of Dr. Seuss still continue its popularity among children.

Mother Goose

Still remember the lines "Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water"?

It is just one among the hundreds of traditional nursery rhymes included in the collection of Mother Goose. Many children are quite perplexed if who is really Mother Goose; if she is really the goose herself or an old woman riding on a goose. However, neither of them is correct—but the fact is many bookstores are allotting their shelves for hundreds of reprints of Mother Goose book collection. And these vintage children's books are good for kids that are starting to learn about words (rhyming) and its sound as well.

Hans Christian Andersen

The Little Match Girl and The Ugly Duckling.

These two are just some of the numerous fairy tales that have been written by Hans Christian Andersen, who is a well-known author of fairy tales which is translated on different languages as well. The "Fairy Tales, told for children" was his first published book in 1835 which contains four classic stories; The Princess and the Pea, The Tinderbox, Little Ida's Flowers, and Little Claus and Big Claus. He has also been able to publish over 150 fairy tale books and is now reprinted on different versions.

These authors really made a difference in your children's learning by providing vintage books that are more of learning and adventure—especially made for your kids.
